Saturday morning I was given the wonderful opportunity to go to a women's treatment center, I stayed for about 2 hours and we taught the women there at the shelter a basic class about breast cancer and how to perform a breast self exam. Early detection is the key to saving lives, Breast cancer does not discriminate it hits young and old, and all different races, my goal for the next year is to go to different shelters and teach women how to perform a breast self exam and give them all the knowledge that they need to know about breast cancer. I really enjoyed myself and I hope that the women enjoyed themselves as well. This was a great way to kick off breast cancer awareness month !Thank you Tarzana Treatment Center !

AS fate would have it , we where meant to meet, good knew whay he was doing when he brought the two of us together...(and boy do we have stories we could tell) one in paticular stands out when I though that I could run over a certin person (driving another certin persons MERCEDES) that was not a good way t o end a lovely evening!

We have had alot of good times, but we have also had hell of a lot of bad times. YOU have been there for me guiding me and comferting me in the last three years since my moms been gone. Its not easy not having our mothers but its nice to know that when we are missing our moms we can call each other and have our pity parties..I look foward every year to celebrating HAPPY MOTHERLESS DAY(THE DAY BEFORE MOTHERS DAY) with you! its our very own way of getting through mothers day, while everyone is celebrating with there mothers!

I thank you for making me realize allot of things about myself this year. I also thank you for making me realize who my real friends are, and that it was important that people knew the real me. when I was having a difficult time last year with my moms death, you where the one who made me realize that I needed to seek god, and that he will see me through my trials, and he has, because of you, you opened me up top a whole new world of hope and miracles...

I cant tell you how proud I am of you........you have totally changed your life. There is a new beginning for you. I loved the old you , but I love the new you even more. I thank god every day for you..........and I will always be here for you, even to hear your CRAZY stories......

As time goes by and life gets so busy , you don't realize the people who have helped you define Who you are. Thursday night I had an incredible and lovely evening with my friend Debbie(boy have I missed her} It had been a little over 2 years since her and I have spoke. She has transformed into this beautiful(she has always been beautiful, but her beauty shows even more now) and successful women. I am so proud of her, and I am glad to call her my true friend. It goes back to the people that really Know you, the people that new you before life happened, before all the drama, and loves you for you. I'm so happy she is back in my life and now I have the opportunity to see her get married and have kiddies........its funny because when we where younger we would talk about having babies, she would say Benjamin will be old enough to babysit my kids when I have them, and that is very true, Deb you got a babysitter! My Best Friend / we Both Have suffered the Loss

We have been friends since the days of wearing our old catholic uniforms to school. When we met we instantly became friends and before you knew it we were BFF. We had so much in common , I valued our friendship since the beginning and I still do. I love her and she loves me unconditionally, we never judge each other and always stay positive for each other, maybe that's why we have been friends for almost 18 years. She lost her father a few months after i lost my mom and we completely feel each others pain. I love her to death and I thank god for having her in my life!!!!!!!!!!

Life without a Mother / Motherless Daughter

SO this blog thing, is pretty new to me but I'm getting the hang of it!

I wanted to start a blog for a variety of reasons, to let everyone know different events that we are involved with, but also to give support to other women that have loss their mothers to cancer.

It will be three years that my mom has been gone on June 10, 2008. My life has dramatically changed since that day. It has been a roller coaster ride, and I don't wish the pain that I have endured upon anyone. Not only did I loose my mom but I also lost allot of people that where once part of my life. No one understands what a daughter goes through when she looses her mother, especially when you are only 28 years old. No when gives you instructions that say this is how you grieve ( although it might be helpful). There is only about 3 people I can say have been there for me and understand me and love me with all my flaws and I thank them for that! But there is also people that walked out of my life due to the the fact that they really did not know me the real MONIQUE. Therefore I feel that it is there loss and not mine. I can say that today I am a better person than I was 3 years ago, the loss of a mother can make you a stronger person, (especially if you are the only daughter), and the way that you handle trials in life can actually help you build character, I know that today I am a better person because of my struggles and losses. Bad things happen to everyone no one is immune to it. when we endure loss we have to take the situation at hand and turn it into something positive and move on. I cant say that I will ever get over my mothers death , but you manage and when you hold strong to your faith each day becomes a little easier!

I will try to post daily about whats events are going on with the foundation, but I will also post about my feeling about loosing my mother. I want other women to know that they are not alone, and I feel the same void that they feel in there heart!
